Position Overview: The City of Surprise is seeking an enthusiastic and experienced Head Swim Coach to oversee and expand its competitive club swim program, Surprise Storm. This role offers a unique opportunity to lead a growing team at a premier aquatic facility, build a strong coaching culture, and inspire athletes of all levels.

Facility Highlights:

• Olympic-sized competition pool with 10 lanes (50 meters) and 23 lanes (25 yards)
• 6-lane warm-up and cool-down pool
• Myrtha Pools Starting Blocks
• Colorado Timing System 7
• Modern amenities and support facilities to host regional and national-level competitions

Key Responsibilities:

• Serve as Head Coach for the top training group
• Lead program development and strategic planning to grow team membership and performance
• Mentor and support assistant coaches
• Collaborate with City staff to integrate programming across club and recreational swim and dive teams
• Promote a positive and inclusive team culture
• Represent the club professionally at competitions, community events, and organizational meetings

Additional Duties:

• Assist with summer recreational swim and dive teams in coordination with the Aquatics Division
• Participate in staff meetings, training, and program outreach as required by the department

Requirements

• Prior experience coaching competitive swimmers, with proven leadership success
• Strong communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills
• Knowledge of USA Swimming regulations and coaching certification preferred
• Ability to plan and implement age-appropriate training programs that promotes long term athlete development and retention.
