- Aquatics Facility Director
Description
Basic Function:
Oversees the day-to-day operation, maintenance and administration of the University of Wyoming Aquatic Center and various other Athletic Department aquatic equipment/therapy pools. Ensures that all appropriate water health and safety standards are maintained.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Works with the University of Wyoming Swimming and Diving coaching staff and the Director of Campus Recreation/Designee to schedule facility usage.
Works with community/outside entities/organizations to schedule facility usage (if available/approved). Ensures appropriate documentation (e.g., facility usage agreements, etc.) is processed/utilized.
Coordinates/manages all Aquatic Center swimming and diving competitions/meets/etc.
Oversees and coordinates the recruitment, training, scheduling, certification and performance of applicable employees including, but not limited to, lifeguards, meet management personnel, support staff, etc.
Oversees the maintenance of pools (e.g., Aquatic Center, therapy pools, etc.) including, but not limited to, chemistry, climate control, cleanliness and related maintenance.
Ensures that all appropriate water, environmental, health and safety standards are maintained. Ensures pools (e.g., Aquatic Center, therapy pools, etc.) are compliant with all local, state and national requirements and current on all necessary certifications required for operation.
Develops and maintains records of operational facility usage. Monitors and maintains inventories of pool (e.g., Aquatic Center, therapy pools, etc.) equipment and supplies.
Maintains Certified Pool Operator, Lifeguard Instructor and CPR/AED/First Aid certifications. Participates in continuing education programs as required to maintain certifications.
Participates in and teaches aquatic and safety certification training sessions, as necessary.
Maintains a thorough knowledge of and adheres to all applicable University, conference and NCAA rules and regulations.
Assists with other duties/projects as assigned/directed.
Requirements
Minimum Qualifications:
Education: Bachelor’s degree
Certification:
o Certification/Licensure American Red Cross Lifeguard Instructor Certification
o American Red Cross Professional Rescuer CPR/AED Instructor Certification
o National Swimming Pool Foundation Certified Pool Operator Certification
Experience: At least 3 years of experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience working in a collegiate setting.
Experience with coordinating/managing USA Swimming and/or collegiate swimming and diving competitions/meets/etc.
Experience utilizing (e.g., set-up, breakdown, troubleshooting, etc.) Colorado Timing Systems.
